S.N.D.T. UNIVERSITY (WOMAN UNIVERSITY)

           INTRODUCTION

SNDT Women's University is also called by the full name Shrimati nathibai Damodar Thakurse Women University . Woman's University in the city of Mumbai India .The University headquarter are situated at Churchgate in South Mumbai while the main campus is in Juhu area of Mumbai. SNDT has three campus-- two in Mumbai and one in Pune. Delhi University as affiliated colleges Maharashtra ,Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar ,Madhya Pradesh, Surat and Goa as well.

HISTORY :- 

The year 1896 mark the beginning of a new human education in India when Keshav Kerve established and aashram for widows and helpless women at near Pune. He realised that to make these woman self sufficient ,dependent ,and confident schooling was essential at the ashram. Karve launched a program of schooling there which became our regular School for girls and women. In a society governed by age old custom and conservative attitude towards women an Institution of this type was bound to face social and economic difficulties. He had a dream of stablished in Women University .His friends sent him are booklet on the Japan Women's University in Tokyo. In December 1915 Karve in his presidential address to the National Social Reform Congress in Mumbai announced his  decision to shape his dream to reality .On 2nd July 1916 the first college started with the enrollment of 5 students it gradually took shape as a woman University .Karve did not wait for the government permission for funds.

    In 1920 The university was name shreemati nathibai Damodar thackersey Women's University.

       In 1936 the headquarter was shifted to Bombay .The university continued to grow providing higher education to more and more women .In 1951 The university was granted recognise and was renamed as Shrimati Nathibai thackersey Women's University now popular as known as SNDT Women's University

INNOVATION:---

 Today the University has enrollment of over 70,000 students it has three campus located at Church Gate ,Juhu, Pune .The University has 39 University Department 15 faculties. There are 174 undergraduate colleges and 8 institution recognized for PhD degree  The university continuous to manage three secondary schools for girls. SNDT is the first university in Maharashtra to obtain 5 star rating from NAAC( National assessment and accreditation) of India in the year 2000 credit with A grade in 2015.

PREMLILA VITHALDAS POLYTECHNIC :---

Premlila vithaldas Polytechnic establish in the year 1976 has been amended by  expert for producing high quality programs which meet National and international standards of Excellence PV Polytechnic offer 9 AICTE approved courses. It also offers University Diploma in jewellery design and manufacture .Polytechnic Grand in aid by Directorate of Technical Education Maharashtra state .The polytechnic was given ninth rank across the fashion colleges of India by India today in 2015 .In 1992 the polytechnic was awarded best polytechnic award by government of Maharashtra .This Polytechnic is pioneer in jewellery design education in Asia. Dr Sachin Lodha principle of this prestigious Institute .

     PV Polytechnic has some academic department:-------

1)- Department of electronic engineering food ,Technology,  medical lab Technology ,department of manufacture and design administration service travel and tourism pharmacy jewellery design and manufacture.

COURSES:-

-In the academic year 2015 to 16 University offer 250 academy program from diploma to Ph.D .There are 5 facilities underwhich varied academic programmed are offered. 

    PG programme are offered at Juhu and Pune campus M.A. in media and communication and PG diploma in communication media and nutrition and health communication courses at Pune campus.
