The term 'Local Culture' is usually used to describe the experience of everyday life in uniquely identifiable localities. It reflects ordinary people's feelings of propriety, comfort, and chastity-the qualities that define personal preferences and changing taste of local cultures it is difficult to argue that an overlapping global culture actually exists. It is clear that more traditional values such as religion, language and local symbols remain within the boundaries of local cultures.


Features of Local Culture


Following are the Features/Characteristics of local culture:


1) Local culture is everything that we create and share as part of our life where we live or work.


2) The local culture recognizes the expertise that people have in living their daily lives.


3) Local culture recognizes that people's daily knowledge comes from shared life experiences and information, which are transmitted to them by family, friends, neighbours and co-workers.


4) local culture has links to all aspects of the curriculum, including art, music, theatre, geography, history, sociology, economics, political science, psychology, anthropology, folklore, reading, writing, speaking,

stening, foreign language, English as a second language, media and technology, international education, natural history and environmental education, family and consumer education.


5) Local culture resides in our relationships with the local environment and landscape, in our local musical and artistic expressions, in the history and contemporary social issues of our community and in the stories of our families.


Methods/Techniques to Conserve Local Culture


The following are some ways to preserve local culture:


1) Inter-cultural dialogue is also important. This contributes to a sense of community in both the host and home countries, regardless of borders and geographic regions. Connecting instantly through pictures, videos often help revitalize life and cultures across the ocean.


2) Promoting people as cultural brand ambassadors, impact building through local vernacular media, an improved media strategy that promotes cultural content and supports cultural projects with little or no commercial value, preserving culture and it can also help in promotion. It would be better to use what is available than to provide what is available.


3) It is imperative to realize that the culture of any society is important as it is what differentiates one society from another, and the media has the power to influence our relationship with the world and have a transformative effect on culture.
